Anniversary Weekend

Wes and I celebrate 5 years this past weekend!
Considering our relationship has lasted longer than most marriages these days, I'm quite proud.
To celebrate the milestone we headed to the mountains in Northern Georgia.

(Wes set up an amazing experience for us at the Len Foote Hike Inn.
It's a hike-in hike-out joint that's nestled 5 miles in to the Amicalola State Park.)

(When we started out on Saturday the weather was pretty crappy.
Pretty rainy, very overcast, and the temperature was dropping.)

(Wes and I made the 4.8 mile in a brisk 2 hours and were famished by the time we got to the inn!)

(Wes and I on the trail after some nice hikers volunteered to take our photo for us.)

(And alas! The Inn is in sight!)

(View of the Sunrise Porch on the backside of the inn.)

(The inn was very green and eco-chic.
Solar panels, no trashcans, composting, they had it all.
Plus, a super cool statue that tracked the solstice. I know it has some fancy name,
but I don't remember.)

(The inn has a goal of <2.0oz of waste with each dinner.
Any scrap that they do have is composted!)

(Wes and I relaxing after a fabulous dinner of
roast beef, smashed potatoes & gravy, broccoli, rolls, and blueberry ooey gooey bread.
YUM.)

(Wonderful wood burning stoves all over the inn.
They put off so much heat!)

(Outside view of the Sunrise Room.)

(Sunrise on Sunday morning.)

(Wes and I outside of the Inn on Sunday morning.)

(After the 5 mile hike back to the car after breakfast Wes and I headed to view
the Amicalola Fall.  It's the tallest waterfall East of the Mississippi.)

(Wes and I at the Falls.)

(So breathtaking!)

(After the hike and the falls we headed to Dahlunaga, GA
and stumbled upon Gold Rush Days.
That is a 4 year old boy up on stage panning for gold.  Only in America.)

(After Gold Rush Days we headed to the wine country!)

(A view of the road leading to Three Sisters Winery.
Such a beautiful area.)

(The winery was super laid back.
If you'll notice the note next to "Blood Mountain Red"
says "Great with snacks and Cheetos."
And they serve the tasting with Cheetos!!)

(The sign in the entryway of the tasting room.
How cute?)

It was a wonderful weekend with Wes.
He's a truly great guy.  5 years went by like a breeze.
Here's to the next 50!

Until next time...

It's Fall Yall!

This past week I hosted the Delta Zeta Young Alumni event for the Atlanta Chapter
at mine and Wes's apartment.

Wes made us some delicious tomato basil soup and made hot grilled cheese for us as well.
We spent the night catching up and carving pumpkins,
which was a lot harder than I remember it being.
But that's probably because my Dad was a master pumpkin carver and always helped me and my sister with our pumpkins.
Or the more likely scenario of finishing my designs after I got bored:)

(Everyone repped their school.  I tried a keltic knot, broke part of my pumpkin,
then got bored and said screw it and went for the heart.)

(Best part? Wes took all of our seeds and sweet roasted them into some tasty weekday treats!)

Until next time...
