Oldies But Goodies

This past weekend one of my best friends from High School came to visit me in Atlanta to celebrate
her boyfriends birthday.  Check out the highlights below.

(Saturday morning walk in the park after a night of great food, good drinks, and a little bit of salsa dancing.)

(We spent the rest of Saturday at the Braves vs. Reds game.
Jess scored us some sweet All-You-Can-Eat & All-You-Can-Drink tickets, thanks again for that birthday present by the way.)

(Hotties in the outfield.)

(Annnnnd JoAnna had Mackenzie and Danielle in town visiting for the Beyonce concert.
It was a miniature Arkansas reunion.)

(So the Braves won, which was great, but the best part of the whole afternoon was seeing
The Steve Miller Band play after the game was over.  They may be old, but they still got it.)

(After some much needed pizza, a shower, and a short power nap, we met up
with some of Jessica's friends from Ole Miss at Prive.
Table + Bottle Service = Ballin.)

(And I think Andrew enjoyed his birthday weekend.)

(Crazy techno lights and sweet dj beats.)

(In other unrelated news... my fabric markers finally came in!
My mom got this super cute dish towel for me that says "Travlin' USA' on the bottom.
It's just one of the many ways that I'm documenting Wes and I's adventures together.
All of the yellow states we have vacationed in, and all of the colored states we have lived together in.
Only 39 states left to visit!)

Until next time...

Pho Real

This weekend had the perfect mix of just about everything.
A little shopping, a little party, a lot of friendship, and a really good homemade meal.

(After a quick day at work and a short nap, I met Karly and a couple of her friends up at P&P.
It's a dark little bar that specializes in mixology drinks with names like "A Firm Handshake".  It's a spot I know Wes is going to love and I can't wait to take him back.)

(The bartenders there are very knowledgable about their "craft" and I learned quite a few things about drinking while I was there.)

(After a break from such Firm drinks we headed over to Flip Flop and then finished the night out at Opera.)

(After a much needed sleeping in we headed over to Cynthia and Don's for some home made Pho.
I was thoroughly intrigued by the whole process and made Cynthia put on a mini cooking show for me with step-by-step commentary.)

(Did you know that the broth of the pho is what actually cooks the meat?!  I didn't...)

(Pickling onions to add in to the mix; Don's favorite.)

(Cynthia in action.)

(Yummy.)

(My pho.  Pho real is was so pho good I couldn't believe it pho sho.)

(Amir couldn't get enough either.)

(In addition to making pho, I did my laundry, we started the first season of Entourage, and I crafted.
I no know that Wes's last name is worth approximately $1.89.  Give or take a few pennies;))

This week will be spent cleaning the apartment, and then trying to keep it that way until Friday when Jessica arrives!!

Until next time...

4th of July Festivities

4th of July here in Atlanta left a lot to be desired.
My parents + extended family were all in the sunny city of Dallas for a family reunion
(and celebrating my Memaw's 80th birthday!!)
Unfortunately I didn't have the 5th off, so my travel plans were limited.
With the temperatures in the balmy 85's for most of the morning and complete cloud coverage
+ sporadic torrential downpours, I spent most of the day inside.  I did get out an about a little bit in the morning to catch the Peachtree Road Race right outside of my house.  Did I mention our apartment is in a great location?!

(Steady flow of runners from 8am-11:30 outside my doorstep.
The race sells out almost immediately so I couldn't run this year, but I'm going to try for it next year.
My friend Meg dared me to "bandit run" it, but with a cop every 3 feet I opted to stay outside of the raceway.)

(My friend Karly after she finished!  Woohoo America!)

(Our apartment was really close to the finish line and tons of my neighbors were out in our courtyard with breakfast, mimosas, and cowbells.  It made me really excited for all of the parades and events to come in this part of the city!)

(A very hazy Fourth of July in Atlanta.)

(Since the city fireworks were postponed due to low cloud coverage the people in my complex decided to host their own fireworks show.  AND, it was super legit.  Perfect way to end the holiday!)

(My sister was home working on some wedding details this passed week and sent me this...
aren't they just adorable?  Now if only Abbie actually liked Scout.)

Until next time...

June/July Bucket List

Here's what was on the list for June:
1.  Visit a Farmer's Market
2.  Sweet Water Brewing Company
3. Weekend in Savannah with Mom
4.  Hike Tallulah Gorge
5.  Atlanta Botanical Garden

So the only thing I didn't accomplish was a trip by Sweet Water Brewing Company,
but that's okay, I'll gladly add it to my to-do list for July!

In July I plan to...
1.  Peachtree Road Race... spectator this year, participant next year!
2.  See the Brave's play
(so last time we went to a Brave's game, but didn't actually see them play due to the weather...)
3.  Go Lobster Fishing in the Florida Keys
4.  Turn 23!
6.  Sweet Water Brewing
7.  Visit Stone Mountain

Until next time...
